Apni Kutir by Calcutta Foundation

Apni Kutir is an initiative by Calcutta Foundation designed to uniquely work with a community and radically improve the education, livelihood, access and standards, and financial situation of women in rural India.

They empower women through education, training, workshops, livelihood development, skill training, and access to opportunities, to create a space for women to realize their full potential creating their individual financial identities. The Kutir has become a place where women come to dream and explore opportunities that are available to them.

Thier classes range from basics of tailoring, and beauty and wellness, to real-life skills like digital literacy, financial literacy, and spoken English, and professional skills such as Food and Beverage, Nursing Aide, Data Entry Operation, and advanced beauty.

Outside of learning, they offer young girls and women mentorship, and workshops such as mental health, menstrual hygiene, entrepreneurship, and development, amongst others. We work with women, families, and societies at large to create long-lasting change for generations to come. Magpet, under its CSR program to promote Education, Skill Development, Livelihood Generatiion & Gender Equality, is pleased to have associated with Calcutta Foundation to establish a Kutir in March 2024 at Kharagpur, West Bengal for a period of 3 years.
